KYBN-Radio & DJ Stevie SoulAs a child, she wanted to be in the music industry with one goal in mind and that was to meet my favorite singer CHAKA KHAN… In Philly 1992 at the IAAAM music convention that dream became a reality. Thanks to DJ Frances Jaye and I received my official introduction to the indie soul music scene, at the end of 2005. 2007 I attended Frances’ I Got Soul Music Conference in Dallas. There she met Erykah Badu (ok she went up to Badu and told her I loved her and to hug me) she busted out laughing and complied. That same evening she met former Badu b/g singer Yahzarah. A couple months later at the Afram in Baltimore aka the African American Hertiage Festival, B-Stage. I saw Sy Smith perform and my life has not been the same since. Currently I am a photographer, podcaster, videographer, artist manager and promoter to the underground indie Soul Music Scene. I Stevie rolls with the Best!

Urban Flosarus

Anthony “Moose Harris” Daniels stumbled into a new opportunity for himself, and hundreds of other Artists and Bands.

While on a networking trip to the studios of KSCL 91.3 FM (Centenary College Radio) in Shreveport, Louisiana, Daniels was randomly asked if he would like to create and host his own Radio Show. Daniels said “yes” before even thinking about it! Urban Flosarus hit the airwaves for the first time on August 18, 2010 at 10pm.

A menagerie of music backed by the “straight forward with a twist of fun” voice of Moose Harris is what thousands of listeners have been entertained by for  years. Moose has been credited with opening the ears of listeners to new artists from around the world. To date, artists submitting music to Urban Flosarus has come from over 35 American States, and 13 other countries, introducing music coming from Independent / underground Hotbeds such as New Orleans, Atlanta, Buffalo, Seattle, and from far off places as London, Tokyo and New Zealand. A number of artists have come on the air with Moose to provide another form of connection with the listener. Artists like Dee-1, Big Mike, Marcel P. Black, & Lyriqs Da Lyrciss  can credit Urban Flosarus as a springboard to bigger accolades. The show also shows its cooperation with the Independent / Underground Community by interviewing representatives of the culture that Urban Flosarus presents every week.

KSON-Studio One, & The Grapevine with Anthony “Moose Harris” Daniels

About The Host:

Anthony Daniels always knew he wanted to be involved in music in some form of fashion. Growing up immersed in music, Daniels started his path in music, playing various instruments in his hometown of New Iberia LA. After he was accepted to the University of New Orleans at eighteen years old, Daniels began studying Jazz under the legendary New Orleans musician and Jazz vocalist Ellis Marsalis.

Although, Daniels sought the fame of being a musician, radio would eventually become part of his life.

“Radio was always what I did. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, while others played with toys and video games, I was always playing with a cassette recorder. I used to create my first shows with a cassette recorder and that’s really how I started,” says Daniels.

It was those experiences that lead Daniels to know that if music never worked out, he would have a second career choice in hand.

After 5 Solo Albums, 12 Production Credits, and Urban Flosarus broacasting in multiple states and countries – with more on the way – the future seems as fun in today as they were in the days of just a cassette recorder.

When it comes to Entertaining, Enlightening, Introducing, and Educating, no one in Syndicated Radio is doing it like Anthony “Moose Harris” Daniels & Urban Flosarus.

The Chamber with Andre Roxx

           The Chamber with Andre Roxx

About the Host:

Andre Roxx of the Wu Tang Killa Beez.. (Legal name: Marques Andre Johnson) was born March 11, 1985 in Pittsburgh PA. The American rapper began his career early in life. In 1992, at the age of 7, he, his cousin Brandon Scott, and his sister Andria Johnson started their first rap group. Under the group name “So Craz’d” their first performance was in late 1992. They performed at a family gathering at their great grandmothers house in Johnstown PA for a few family and friends . Their cousin Allen Andrews, a local community planner was so impressed with their raw talent that he invited them to perform at a block party. Andria (age 8) dropped out of the group before this performance, however Brandon and Marques, then performing under the names Top Dawg and Black Dawg, were instantly addicted to hip hop. For 3 years Allen Andrews continued book the duo for community events paying them $ 10 each and all the junk food they could eat (a small fortune to a 7 year old).

In 1993 the duo recorded their first project “The Debut” by wiring a Yamaha keyboard and a plastic microphone into a boom box. Convincing local stores to sell this tape, and promoting it with hand written posters, the two sold over 600 copies of the project over the summer. Between the years of 1996 and 2001 the group broke up and re-united several times under several different names. Each artist enjoyed local success as solo acts as well as in the group, selling thousands of albums. Their artistic goals and visions, however, were to different to successfully collaborate. As they entered into their teens Brandon (then performing under the name “Kamo Kream”) leaned towards a more commercialized sound, wanting to make fun party music with a commercial pop appeal. Marques (then performing under the name “The Paradox”) was strongly influenced by groups like The Roots, Common, and KRS One. He leaned toward social and political rhymes with a dark underground sound. In 2000 each artist changed their names (Brandon to “Scotty Coles “and Marques to” Andre Roxx “) and the name of the group to 92 SCAR’s (92 representing the year they began rapping and SCAR’s an acronym for Scotty Coles Andre Roxx). They consolidated for one single track project called” The Letter ” . In 2001 the duo separated for good, however Brandon has remained an intricate part of the Andre Roxx revolution, acting as publicist, web designer, promoter and adviser to Andre Roxx throughout the year. Roxx has even been heard urging Brandon to reunite the old group.

KSON-Studio & The Chamber with Andre Roxx

After the split, Roxx became more determined than ever. Taking a bold and risky action, Roxx announced to his entire high school that tomorrow he would release the most incredible single that the state of Pennsylvania had ever heard. At the time of the announcement he had not written or recorded anything. After leaving high school that day, he rushed to the home of his cousin and well know dj, radio personality and producer DJ Seanskee. Explaining the situation the two stayed up all night recording and burning CD’s. Armed with a blaring boom box Roxx sold over 100 copies of his “Verbal Assault” single that school day. That winter the CD was picked up by local stores throughout western PA selling over 1500 copies.

KSON-Studio & The Chamber with Andre Roxx 5

Shortly after Roxx recorded and released the entire album “Verbal Assault” selling just shy of 9,000 copies. In 2003 Roxx began recording his new album. He paid homage to one of his hero’s Bob Marley by titling his new album “Rebel Music”. Though he release several singles, and continued to perform, completing the album was slow due to a constant moving from city to city. Between 2003 and 2005 he relocated to Richmond VA, Baltimore MD, Philadelphia PA, Harrisburg PA, and Johnstown PA. He eventually settled in Denver CO in late 2005. In January 2006 he finished recording and released his album “Rebel Music”. For his album release party he booked one of his favorite MC’s, Killah Priest of the Wu Tang Clan, to perform as a special guest . Once Priest heard Andre Roxx he was instantly enthralled with his aggressive delivery and profound lyrics. Over the next 6 years, Roxx and Priest performed dozens of shows throughout the Midwest and have remixed several songs from the critically acclaimed “Black August” album for release on Andre Roxx upcoming project “Lazarus: The Resurrection of Hip Hop”.

Though Killah Priest as well as many other members of the Wu Tang Clan Considered Roxx a member of the group since 2006, even going so far as to feature him in many Wu Tang musical compilations and tours, , no official contract with the Wu Tang Clan had been signed. That would all change.

In early June of 2011 Priest approached Roxx with an offer for him  to head up a new faction of the Wu Tang Clan known as the MidWest Killa Beez. After minor negotiations Roxx accepted the offer and became an official member of the Wu Tang family on June 16 2011. On Jan 26, 2012 Interscope digital distribution released Roxx’s single Critical Mass to mixed reviews. Though many speculated that his style was to “old skool” Roxx was not finished. In May of 2012 Interscope digital distribution released the cult classic single “Grown Folks Music “essentially flipping off the power structure of the music industry. The Single took the underground Hip Hop culture by storm and re-established Roxx as a lyrical mastermind to the Hip Hop community.

In January of 2013 Roxx independently released a disc compilation Gemini Man: The Double Negative and  Lazarus: The Resurrection of Hip Hop solidifying his place as one of the greatest lyricists of the modern era. The album was such a success that his tour schedule was booked nearly a year in advance.

KSON-Studio One with Andre Roxx On Air 2

In late March of 2014 this would all come to a halt as Roxx was arrested for narcotics and firearm charges in Philadelphia PA, and sentenced to 1-2 years incarceration of which he served 1 ½ years. During his incarceration TMZ, and subsequently every major news outlet, erroneously ran a story claiming that he severed his penis and attempted suicide, causing irrevocable damage to his reputation. Upon his release in June of 2014 Roxx found that the story which had run since April of 2014 had taken such strong hold, that he was unable to secure work as a performer or recording artist. Many speculated that this would finally be the end of his career.

Ever determined, Roxx secured a slot on a local internet radio station as a political commentator showing the world that his talents extended far beyond the musical realm. Re-branding himself as an intellectual pundit, he created the Chamber Radio show, aggressively attacking current events with a uniquely urban perspective. After a friend took a tape of Roxx’s debate  with a Philadelphia police officer to the KSON radio network staff, The Chamber was immediately picked up.

KSON-Studio & The Chamber with Andre Roxx 3

The Chamber with Andre Roxx will debut on KSON-Studio One October 2015 and it promises to be nothing less than an explosive exhibition of a man who has always done things his own way, and apologized to no one.

The Grapevine

KSON-Studio One, & The Grapevine

The Grapevine.

Bearing the Fruit in The Heart of Our Music, The Grapevine comes to you from a point of view that is not just old school in its music and how it is aired, but rather History in the way you hear it and learn from host: Anthony “Moose Harris” Daniels. The show mix R&B, Jazz (real Jazz) some Pop and just giving it to you…STRAIGHT!  and pure

The show currently airs Saturdays 1pm-3pm (pst) on KSON Studio One, World Advantage Network The Grapevine is growing each and every week in part due to Anthony “Moose Harris” Daniels delivery of a great show and the research he places in gathering the information just for his listening audience.

About Myself:

KSON-Studio One, & The Grapevine with Anthony “Moose Harris” DanielsAnthony “Moose Harris” Daniels. I have been Producer, and Host of The Grapevine. Since January 21, 2012,

I am an all-round Music Businessman as an Artist, Producer, Musician, and Industry Networker. I also possess nearly 10 years in the Radio Industry as a Board Operator, On-Air DJ / Reporter, Website Moderator, Music Director, and of course, Radio Show Host.

While often associated with making wine, the grapevine has a place in art as well. This is a well-used symbol seen throughout history, such as in ancient Egyptian art, in which it symbolized the heart. In other examples, the grape vine denotes religious beliefs, and modern applications may use it for decorative purposes.” By Jean Miller, eHow Contributor| updated March 10, 2011

Prior to the 20th Century, music was primarily based in either spiritual or classical forms. But a revolution of musical styles began in the late 1800’s into the early 1900’s. Jazz and Blues along the Mississippi Delta introduced a more secular sound with spiritual emotions. As the 20th century progressed, various other genres branched out from those roots, with the apex being the sounds of the 1960’s and 1970’s. It was these sounds that introduced Anthony “Moose Harris” Daniels to the world of music in the early 1980’s. In 1992, he was a Motown Historian, and by 1998, he was studying Jazz at the University of New Orleans as a Jazz Vocalist under Ellis Marsalis. All throughout this, radio and recording was a part of the musical passion. First on the air in 1987 as a Student Lunch Reporter on KANE in New Iberia, Louisiana, Daniels was a seasoned veteran in Radio by the time his Professional Radio career started with WGSO, New Orleans in 2004.

Fast forward to early 2012. While on a syndication campaign for his Hip-Hop based radio show Urban Flosarus, he was approached by KDOL, Livingston, Texas about developing a Blues and R&B show. Like previous times in his life, these genres had been successfully intertwined in Urban Flosarus for the entirety of the 18 months it had been on the air. The motto of the show had even covered this: “Playing Anything with a Groove from Louis Armstrong to The Roots!” Now was the opportunity to scale things back more towards the music Daniels grew up with out of the 8-track, record and cassette collection of his parents, with the study and performance developed in his New Orleans College Years. Adding to that the already existing national listening audience from Urban Flosarus and The Grapevine was born.

KSON-Studio One, & The Grapevine

Weekly, The Grapevine plays a variety of music in R&B, Blues, Soul, Jazz and other related genres in a musical gumbo that is not commonly heard on many radio shows or stations. So much of radio today is segregated based on age demographics, that not only are several younger listeners (and artists) are growing up without a musical sense of history and reference (wondering who is the artist Jay-Z & Kayne West are rapping over on their song “Otis” for example) but the adult executives are failing to realize that it was that same sense of history that provided the blueprint for the music they grew up with. At age 32, Daniels is at the time period where knowledge of the musical past and present is naturally intertwined and can be presented in a way where a family can listen together and share together. Classic music from artists like Marvin Gaye, Cannonball Adderly, Hugh Masekla, Average White Band, and Howling Wolf are in rotation with artists of today such as Raphael Saadiq, Wynton Marsalis, Beyoncé, and Cedric Watson. At the same time several rising and independent artists are intertwined throughout the 2 hour broadcast from around the world.

With a legitimate national listening audience, and an immediate listening base that stretches from Baton Rouge, to Chicago, 2013 is the year for The Grapevine to continue providing more access for artists and listeners through multiple FM, AM and Internet Radio stations. The show is free to carry. It is delivered in 4 parts so that you may sell local spots and place them. We do have a limited amount of slots carried by show sponsors. But these are very limited & the show is mostly commercial free. The Grapevine has an average of 60 percent of listeners age 18-35, college educated, with an annual income of $24,000. The second largest average of listeners (24%), are aged 36-54, college educated, with an annual income of $32,140.

Urban Music
The Morning Drive with the lovely and very talented Linda Nop (DJ Jolly) who brings to your mornings, R&B, Soul, Urban Contemporary Music, also known as Urban Soul, a musical genre of the 1980s and ’90s defined by recordings artists with broad crossover appeal. Urban contemporary began as an American radio format designed to appeal to advertisers who felt that “black radio” would not reach a wide enough audience.
DJ Jolly has placed her heart into her work here at KSON. The Morning Drive we her baby right from the very start. DJ Jolly worked with KSON’s “Afternoon Lounge Host and Program Director Mimosa Hong, were the two ofg them came together and placed Linda Lop in the Morning Drive spot which DJ Mosa had hosted previously.

After going over which format DJ Jolly would place in the Mornings..the two girls along with the General Manager Dr. Aaron Ramsey came up with R&B Urban Music.

Responding to disco’s waning popularity in the late 1970s, African-American-oriented radio created two new, nearly synonymous formats, retronuevo and quiet storm (the latter named after a Smokey Robinson hit); both were characterized by a subtle, smooth musical approach that looked back to the rhythm-and-blues ballad tradition. Among the artists who found the greatest success in these formats were Anita Baker and Luther Vandross, both of whom reached the large crossover pop audience in the early 1980s that gave rise to the urban contemporary radio format. Although not as light and pop-oriented as the Motown sound, the format eschewed grittier or blues-driven music (like Southern soul) that was deemed “too black.” Targeted at the multicultural diversity of large cities, urban contemporary came to include artists such as Chaka Khan, the Commodores, Earth, Wind and Fire, Janet Jackson, and Jeffrey Osborne, as well as white performers such as Phil Collins and David Bowie. In the late 1980s a number of artists began melding rhythm-and-blues-style vocals and hip-hop rhythms, distancing themselves from urban contemporary (while pushing it toward a rawer sound); called new jack swing, this new style was most notably practiced by producers Teddy Riley and Babyface, singers Keith Sweat and Bobby Brown, and the vocal group Bell Biv Devoe.

DJ Jolly can be heard each morning from 11am-Noon (pst) Monday-Friday.

Orlando, Florida native

KSON-Sterling StevensonSterling Stevenson brings youthful flavor with the mature adult’s appeal to “The Point of View.” A product of Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism, Sterling has a tremendous passion for motivational quotations and meaningful clichés that he often shares with his listeners.

With humble beginnings in the radio industry as a part-time promotions assistant, his talent was quickly recognized by veteran on-air personalities. This recognition catapulted Sterling onto the professional voice work scene.  He has done a multiplicity of commercials both locally and nationally. His voice has been used in video games, as well; most recently, as a trash talking football player in EA Sports’ John Madden 2010 and 2011. Sterling remains very active in the Central Florida entertainment circle by hosting numerous plays and live jazz venues.

Sterling’s mellow tone and genuine personality compliment “The Point of View’s” laid back conversational format. He is a young man who is wise beyond his years, but still knows how to relate to the multitudes in his own way.

Stevie’s Soul Love 101

Stevie's Soul Love101

Stevie’s Soul Love 101

I’ve held various titles in my life…from Artist Manager, Night Club Manager Dj, also a Promoter to an Entertainment Photographer. As a child I wanted to meet my favorite singer CHAKA KHAN and the only way I figured that was going to happen was to get involved in the music industry, I’m not that great of a singer but my voice is worthy of Radio and I can take a mean photograph!..

In Philly, 1992 at the IAAAM Music Convention, I finally met “my” Chaka. Amazingly! We share the same birthday March 23rd.  In the fall of ’95, “Right On! Magazine” Editor Cynthia Horner called me to let me know my photograph of then teen music sensation “Immature” had made the cover of their magazine. That very day I had been laid off from my job of 9 years which totally  didn’t faze me…I GOT The Cover!”

Fast Forward to the PRESENT

Thanks to Dj Frances Jaye and I received my official introduction to indie soul music.   Oct 2005, she’d brought Amel Larrieux & Bilal to Morgan State U’s homecoming, and had information about her internet station.

Once I returned to the comfort of my  bedroom I tuned in…Loved every note and every sound….I found where new soul music had gone, because it certainly wasn’t being played on the radio anymore .

In 2007 I attended Frances’ “I Got Soul ” Music Conference in Dallas.  There I met Erykah Badu (ok I went up to Badu and told her I loved her and to hug me) she busted out laughing and complied.    A couple months later at the Afram in Baltimore aka the African American Heritage Festival, B-Stage.  I saw Sy Smith perform and my life has not been the same since.

Sy Smith was my lightbulb moment… Her performance was so incredible and polished  I realized she couldn’t be the only one…Hence my realization that there is in fact an Independent Soul Music Scene.

Currently I am a Photographer,  Syndicated Podcaster/DJ , Videographer, Artist Manager and Promoter to The Indie Soul Music Scene.  I use all my God given talents with a big dose of Love to help propel this scene and our music forward into the hearts and ears of the people that need their music most..
Welcome to Stevie’s Soul!

Timeless Traxx with Tyrone DuBose

KSON-Timeless Traxx with Tyrone DuBose

Timeless Traxx with Tyrone DuBose

Growing up in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tyrone DuBose began his journey in entertainment by hosting a television program that began in 1985. Over a span of 15 years, Tyrone garnered more awards than anyone in the history of the South Bay Producers Guild in Southern California, awards that included Producer of the Year, Talk Show of the Year, a citation from the California State Legislature, and the United States House of Representatives.

DuBose then made the switch to voice overs and announcer of many events, and his smooth voice was sought after and heard on many national commercials. He then ventured into radio, where he was heard live on the air at KHWY-FM in Barstow California, as travelers heard his voice when they traveled across the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas and Laughlin Nevada over 7 years.
